hi there! i'm sylvia, and i'm just a girl, little ol' me who is not your typical prototype. i'm a southern californian, born and bred; just don't let my pale skin and almond eyes fool you into thinking otherwise.

i'm not going to lie, but there is something about the domesticity of being in the kitchen that i really like. it was the sweet smell of a cake a'bakin' and the beautiful sound of a timer a'dingin' that first drew me in. making desserts will always be my first love and now, learning to cook is quickly becoming a runner-up. but most of all, my absolute favorite reason for making a mess in the kitchen is being able to share awesome recipes and tasty goodies with family and friends and now, you lovely readers.

i want to use this little space on the interwebs to not only share recipes and stories, but to also explore and share ideas regarding food sustainability and food culture. here's to hoping that i'll be able to strike a good balance.
